📜 Legal Darija Academy Terms and Conditions

Terms & Conditions

The clear, plain-language agreement between you and Darija Academy — covering bookings, lessons, cancellations, and refunds for every student we teach, anywhere in the world.

Last updated: 23 June 2026

Welcome to Darija Academy. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of darijaacademy.com (the “Website”) and your booking of any private lesson, package, or plan in Moroccan Darija, Arabic, or Quran with Tajweed (the “Services”). By visiting the Website, creating an account, or booking a lesson, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before purchasing.

1About These Terms and Conditions

Darija Academy (“we,” “us,” “our”) is an online language school based in Vienna, Austria, offering private, live, one-on-one lessons in Moroccan Darija, Modern Standard Arabic, and Quran with Tajweed. We serve students of all ages and backgrounds worldwide, with a particular focus on the Moroccan diaspora, Moroccan families abroad, new and practising Muslims, and anyone wishing to connect with Moroccan language and culture. Our Services are delivered entirely online by vetted native-speaking tutors.

2Who Our Services Are For

Darija Academy welcomes children, teenagers, and adults of every background, including Muslims and non-Muslims alike. Anyone booking on behalf of a child under 18 confirms they are that child’s parent or legal guardian, or have the guardian’s permission to book, and remains responsible for the child throughout the lesson relationship.

3Lesson Format

Each lesson is private and delivered to one student only, except where a plan is explicitly described as a group or family session. Standard lessons are 50 minutes; our Quick Start trial lesson is 25 minutes. A lesson or package may not be shared between two students, between siblings, or between an adult and a child — each learner needs their own plan. Lessons take place over standard video-call platforms (such as Zoom or Google Meet); the specific platform is confirmed at booking.

4Booking and Payment

All lessons, trials, and packages must be booked and paid for in advance through our online booking system. We accept payment by major debit and credit card, processed securely via Stripe, in Euro (€). Prices shown on the Website are inclusive of any applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. A booking is confirmed once payment has been successfully processed and you receive a confirmation notice.

5Trial Lessons

We offer two paid introductory options so you can meet your tutor and experience our teaching style before committing to a full plan:

  • Quick Start — a 25-minute private taster lesson (€10).
  • Full Trial — a complete 50-minute private lesson (€15).

These are real, low-cost paid lessons rather than free sales calls, and are otherwise subject to the same booking, scheduling, and cancellation rules as any other lesson under these Terms.

6Scheduling, Cancellations and Rescheduling

You may choose lesson times based on tutor availability. Bookings, cancellations, and reschedules must each be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson time.

In short: Cancel or reschedule 24 hours or more before your lesson, and no charge applies, and no lesson is deducted from your plan.

We will always try to accommodate genuine emergencies on a case-by-case basis, even outside this window, but we are not obliged to do so.

7No-Shows and Late Cancellations

A lesson that is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or where the student does not attend (a “no-show”), is treated as a completed, used lesson and is not refunded or credited. This policy exists to protect our tutors’ time and income, since each lesson slot is reserved exclusively for one student.

8Refund Policy

Because our lessons are private, live, and reserved specifically for each student, payments are generally non-refundable once a lesson has taken place or a booking window has passed without the required notice.

If you experience a genuine technical failure on our side, a tutor no-show, or another service failure, contact us within 48 hours and we will offer a free replacement lesson or, where appropriate, a refund for the affected session.

Unused lessons within an active, unexpired package are not refundable for change of mind, but we will always try to help you reschedule them within the plan’s validity window (see Section 9 and our Pricing page for window lengths).

This Section forms part of, and should be read together with, any separate Refund Policy published on the Website; where the two conflict on a specific point, the more recently updated page applies.

9Family and Multi-Student Plans

Family and sibling plans (such as Siblings Duo, Family Bundle, and Full Household) give each named family member their own private lessons with their own tutor; the lesson count is allocated per person and is not a shared pool that can be redistributed between family members.

Lessons within a package must be used within the validity window stated for that plan on our Pricing page (for example, one month for weekly plans, or two to three months for kids’ bundles and family plans). We will do our best to help you fit in a lesson that is at risk of expiring if you contact us in good time.

10Female Tutors

We offer female tutors for students who prefer a female-only learning environment, including for Quran and Islamic studies. Please mention this preference when booking; assignment depends on subject, schedule, and tutor availability, and we will always do our best to accommodate your request.

11Student and Parent Responsibilities

Students are responsible for joining lessons on time, with a stable internet connection, and in a suitable environment for learning. Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring that children attend on time, are prepared for class, and are supervised as appropriate for their age, particularly for younger learners.

Repeated lateness or unpreparedness may reduce the effective lesson time but does not entitle the student to an extension or refund.

12Technology Requirements

You need a device with a working camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and access to the video-call platform used for your lesson. Darija Academy is not responsible for interruptions, delays, or lesson quality issues caused by your own internet connection, device, or software.

If a lesson is significantly disrupted by a fault on our side or your tutor’s side, we will reschedule the affected time or add it to a future session at no extra cost.

13Our Teachers

All tutors are vetted before joining Darija Academy and are native or highly proficient speakers of the language they teach. Our Quran tutors hold recognised credentials and a verified chain of transmission (isnad) for Tajweed instruction.

Tutors are independent professionals working with Darija Academy to deliver your lessons; we manage scheduling, payment, and quality standards on their behalf and on yours. We do not tolerate disrespectful, abusive, or discriminatory behaviour from students or parents toward tutors, and reserve the right to suspend or end the lesson relationship in serious or repeated cases, with no entitlement to a refund for that reason.

14Educational Outcomes

Our lessons are designed to support genuine progress in spoken Darija, Arabic, or Quran recitation and memorisation. We do not guarantee specific results, fluency timelines, or exam outcomes, as progress depends substantially on the student’s attendance, practice between lessons, starting level, and consistency.

15Intellectual Property

All content on the Website and provided as part of our Services — including text, graphics, logos, course structure, worksheets, and lesson materials — belongs to Darija Academy or its licensors unless stated otherwise.

You may use materials provided to you for your own personal learning, but you may not copy, reproduce, distribute, publicly share, or resell our materials or course structure without our prior written permission.

16Acceptable Use of the Website

As part of these Terms and Conditions, you agree to use the Website and our booking system only for lawful purposes connected with booking and attending lessons. You must not attempt to interfere with the Website’s operation, gain unauthorised access to any account or system, or use the Website to harass, abuse, or misrepresent yourself to our staff or tutors.

17Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Darija Academy’s liability to you in connection with the Services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific lesson or package giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, including loss of opportunity or data, arising from your use of the Services.

Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or liability arising from fraud.

18Your Right to Cancel (EU Consumers)

If you are a consumer based in the European Union, you generally have the right to withdraw from a purchase of our Services within 14 days of booking, without giving a reason, under EU consumer protection law.

Important: by booking a specific lesson time, you expressly request that we begin providing that Service before the 14-day period ends. Once a lesson has been fully delivered, your right of withdrawal for that lesson is lost. If you cancel before a lesson has taken place and within the 14-day window, you will receive a full refund for that lesson, less any portion already delivered.

Like the rest of these Terms and Conditions, this right exists alongside, and does not replace, the cancellation and rescheduling terms in Sections 6 and 7, which apply to scheduling changes for lessons you intend to keep.

19Privacy

We collect and use personal data (such as your name, contact details, and payment information) only as needed to provide and improve our Services, in line with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms by reference.

20Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our Services, policies, or the law. The version published on this page is always the current one, and the “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed.

If we make a material change, we will post a notice on this page; continuing to use our Services after that point means you accept the revised Terms. Lessons or packages you have already paid for will continue to be honoured under these Terms and Conditions as they applied when you purchased them, unless a change in the law requires otherwise.

21Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Austria, and Darija Academy is based in Vienna, Austria.

If you are a consumer habitually resident in another EU or EEA country, you also keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your own country’s law that cannot be excluded by agreement, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country as permitted under EU rules, or in the courts of Austria.

In the spirit of these Terms and Conditions, we will always try to resolve any concern directly and informally before either party considers formal proceedings — please contact us first using the details in Section 23.

22Entire Agreement and Severability

These Terms and Conditions, together with our Privacy Policy and any Refund Policy published on the Website, form the entire agreement between you and Darija Academy regarding the Services, and replace any earlier agreement or understanding on the same subject.

If any provision of these Terms and Conditions is found unenforceable by a court or authority, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect, and the unenforceable provision will be read in the way that most closely achieves its original intent while remaining lawful.
