I was born in Casablanca. I lived in Kyiv. Then I moved to Vienna. My wife is European. My child is growing up in Austria — the most beautiful country in the world — and also the furthest possible from the streets where I grew up, the language my mother speaks, and the prayers I was taught as a boy.
I built Darija Academy because I saw it clearly: the problem wasn’t unique to me. Millions of Moroccan families around the world are living the same quiet loss. Children who visit Morocco every summer but can’t hold a real conversation with their grandparents. Adults in their thirties who grew up in Paris, Amsterdam, or Brussels and feel ashamed they were never taught Darija.
No app was solving this. No weekend class either. And no existing academy understood that a Moroccan family needs Darija and Arabic and Quran — not as three separate products, but as one living heritage. So I built the academy I wish had existed when I became a father abroad.
