Refund Policy
A clear, fair explanation of when lessons are refundable, how cancellations work, and what happens if something goes wrong on our side.
At Darija Academy, we provide private, live, one-on-one online lessons in Moroccan Darija, Arabic, and Quran with Tajweed. Because each lesson is scheduled specifically for one student and a tutor’s time is reserved in advance, this Refund Policy is clear and fair. This Refund Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions, which govern booking, scheduling, and cancellations in full.
1Trial Lessons and This Refund Policy
We offer two paid introductory options rather than a free trial: Quick Start (€10, 25 minutes) and Full Trial (€15, 50 minutes). Both are real, low-cost paid lessons, and both follow the same refund and cancellation rules as any other lesson on this page.
2Lesson Bookings Are Generally Non-Refundable
Under this Refund Policy, once a lesson has been booked and confirmed, payment is generally non-refundable, because that time slot is reserved exclusively for you with a specific tutor. This applies to single lessons, trials, and monthly or multi-lesson plans alike.
3Cancellations and Rescheduling (24-Hour Rule)
You can cancel or reschedule any lesson free of charge if you do so at least 24 hours before the scheduled time. We will always try to accommodate genuine emergencies outside this window on a case-by-case basis, but we are not obliged to do so.
4Missed Lessons and No-Shows
If a lesson is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or if a student does not attend (a “no-show”), that lesson is treated as completed and used, and is not refunded or credited. This protects the time our tutors set aside for you.
5Package and Plan Payments
Packages and monthly plans are for one named student only and cannot be shared between students, siblings, or family members. Family and multi-student plans allocate lessons per person, not as a shared pool.
Unused lessons within an active, unexpired package are not refundable for change of mind, but we will always help you reschedule them within the plan’s validity window (see our Pricing page for window lengths).
6Technical Issues on Our Side
Under this Refund Policy, if a lesson cannot be completed because of a technical failure on our side or a tutor no-show, contact us within 48 hours and we will offer a free replacement lesson or, where appropriate, a refund for that specific session. We are not responsible for issues caused by your own internet connection, device, or software.
7Your EU Right to Cancel (14 Days)
If you are a consumer based in the European Union, you generally have the right to withdraw from a purchase of our Services within 14 days of booking, without giving a reason.
This right exists alongside, and does not replace, the 24-hour cancellation rule in Section 3 for lessons you intend to keep and simply need to move.
8Exceptional Cases
Outside the situations above, we may still review a refund request individually — for example a genuine medical emergency or another serious, documented circumstance. Any decision to issue a refund in these cases is made at our discretion, based on the specific situation, and is not a guarantee that future similar requests will be treated the same way.
9How to Request a Refund
To request a refund or flag an issue with a lesson, contact us within 48 hours of the affected lesson wherever possible, using the details in Section 10. Please include your name, the email or account used to book, and the date and subject of the lesson in question so we can look into it quickly.
