Situation: Karla and Jason are in a restaurant.
Darija dialogue
Waiter: t-fḍḍlu! mrнbabikum.
Jason: šukran. weš kayna ši ṭbla dyal juj d n-nas?
Waiter: m3lum kayna. fin bġitu t-glsu?
Jason: bġina waнd ṭ-ṭbla нda s-srjm.
Waiter: šnu bġitu t-aklu?
Karla: šnu 3ndkum?
Waiter: ha l-menu.
Karla: ana bġit šlaḍa u ksksu b l-ġnmi.
Waiter: waxxa a lalla. u nta a sidi?
Jason: ana kan-akul ġir l-xḍra. weš kayna ši makla bla lнm?
Waiter: iyeh! kayna l-lubya.
Jason: waxxa. jib liya šlaḍa u ṭbsil d l-lubya.
Waiter: weš bġitu t-šrbu ši нaja?
Karla: ana bġit kuka barda.
Jason: ana bġit ġir l-ma 3afak.
Later:
Jason: l-нsab 3afak.
Waiter: 60 drhm.
Jason: hak a sidi.
Waiter: lla y-xlf. kif jatkum l-makla?
Karla & Jason: bnina! 3jbatna bzzaf.
Waiter: b ṣ-ṣннa u r-raнa.
Karla & Jason: lla y-3ṭik ṣ-ṣннa.
English meaning: The waiter welcomes Karla and Jason and seats them by the window. Karla orders salad and couscous with lamb; Jason, a vegetarian, orders salad and beans instead of meat. Karla has a cold Coke, Jason just water. The bill comes to 60 dirhams, and both agree the food was delicious.
