Travel and the Future Tense

By the end of this section, you will be able to describe future activities, identify different means of transportation, and use useful travel expressions.

Forming the future tense

The future tense may be formed differently in different parts of Morocco, but Moroccan speakers should understand the different forms.

To form the future tense: begin with the present-tense form of the verb, remove the prefix ka-, and add ġadi before the verb.

Example verb: “to travel” (safr)

English	Darija
I will travel	ġadi n-safr
You will travel — masculine	ġadi t-safr
You will travel — feminine	ġadi t-safri
He will travel	ġadi y-safr
She will travel	ġadi t-safr
We will travel	ġadi n-safru
You will travel — plural	ġadi t-safru
They will travel	ġadi y-safru
