LESSON 141Trains, Grand Taxis and Other Transportation
Trains
There are first-class and second-class train tickets. A train carriage with air conditioning costs more. Train schedules may change, so travellers should confirm the departure time. Tickets can be bought in advance. According to the textbook, trains are the local transportation option for which a round-trip ticket can be bought.
Grand taxis
Grand taxis are used for travel between towns and cities. They normally carry six passengers, and the price is charged per seat. A passenger may pay for empty seats so the taxi can leave earlier. The textbook advises asking the other passengers about the normal price before asking the driver.
To take the complete taxi privately, ask for ṭaxi coursa. Luggage does not normally cost extra in a grand taxi.
Pick-up trucks
In places without public transportation, private trucks may carry supplies and passengers. The owner determines the passenger fare.
Airport transportation
The textbook mentions buses and trains connecting Rabat Ville with Casablanca Airport, airport buses connecting Casablanca with the airport, and taxis from Rabat–Salé Airport.
