Christine: lla, maši frmliya u maši ṭbiba.
Sumiya: šnu xdmtk?
Christine: kan-tkllm m3a n-nas 3la ṣннthum u ṣннt wladhum.
Sumiya: weš kat-3ṭihum d-dwa?
Christine: ma-kan-3ṭihum-š d-dwa u ma-kan-dir-š libra. kan-gul l n-nas šnu xṣṣhum y-diru baš ma-y-mrḍu-š huma wlla wladhum. u kan-hḍr m3ahum 3la l-‘ahammiya dyal d-dwa d l-bir, u bit l-ma, u ġsil l-yddin, u d-dwa d l-krš.
Sumiya: mzyan. had š-ši muhim. u ṣaнbtk šnu kat-dir?
Christine: kat-gul lihum y-jlbu wladhum baš ma-y-mrḍu-š. u kat-šrн lihum šnu xṣṣhum y-diru ila ma-bġau-š y-wldu bzzaf. u kat-nṣн l-3yalat l-нamlat baš y-mšiu l ṣ-ṣbiṭar.
Sumiya: had š-ši mzyan. tbark lla 3likum.
Christine: lla y-bark fik.
English meaning: Sumiya asks Christine if she is a nurse, since she saw her at the health centre. Christine explains she is neither a nurse nor doctor, but talks to people about their and their children’s health — well water, toilets, hand-washing, and diarrhea medicine — without giving medicine or injections herself. Her friend encourages immunization, family planning, and prenatal visits for pregnant women.
