Lesson objective
In this lesson, you will learn how to say that someone likes doing an activity. The verb 3jb can be followed by another verb, using the present-tense form without ka-.
Examples
kay-3jbni n-n3s mura l-ġda. — I like to sleep after lunch. (kay-3jbni = I like, n-n3s = to sleep, mura l-ġda = after lunch)
kay-3jbu y-l3b l-kura. — He likes to play football.
ma-kay-3jbha-š t-fiq bkri. — She does not like to wake up early.
weš kay-3jbk t-jri ṣ-ṣbaн bkri? — Do you like to run early in the morning?
šnu kay-3jbk t-dir f l-weekend? — What do you like to do at the weekend?
Sentence-building exercise
Make correct sentences using 3jb. The exercise includes questions and answers about your work, his work, her work, liking something very much, and liking something a little.
Then use pictures to make as many affirmative and negative sentences as possible about Suzy, Ahmed, Ronny and Nancy, and Aicha.
Moroccan expression
ma-šri-š l-нut f ql3 l-bнr.
Literal meaning: Do not buy fish at the bottom of the sea.
English equivalent: Do not count your chickens before they hatch.
