LESSON 251Shaabana
The eighth Islamic month is ša3ban. On its fifteenth day, a festival called š3bana takes place.
According to the tradition described in the textbook, this day is connected with the recording of events that will happen during the coming year. Some women traditionally gather and prepare couscous with special spices. The food may be eaten at home or in a mosque.
Shaabana takes place shortly before Ramadan. People may organize food, music and celebrations before the fasting month begins.
