LESSON 263Participating in Moroccan Festivals
Religious, national and regional festivals provide opportunities to see interesting traditions, meet people informally, participate in community life, and enjoy public celebrations.
Information about festival dates may be available from tourist-information offices or people living in the local community.
The same festival may be celebrated differently in different parts of Morocco. For example, the textbook explains that Green March Day receives greater attention in Errachidia Province because the first group of marchers came from that province.
Before participating in a holiday, it is useful to understand the local expectations concerning visiting, receiving guests, giving gifts, and taking part in activities.
