Moroccan Cultural Note

Morocco has small city taxis, larger shared taxis, buses, trams in some cities and trains between major cities. In many city taxis, the meter should be used. Practices vary by city and situation, so ask clearly and politely. Keep the destination written or displayed on a map when pronunciation is difficult.

Common Learner Mistakes

  • Do not forget l before a destination.
  • ddini means “take me,” while bġit n-mši means “I want to go.”
  • Use wqf hna only when it is safe and legal for the driver to stop.
  • Confirm whether the fare is metered or agreed before a longer journey when appropriate.
